<![CDATA[POMETTO, MICHAEL L. Aug 15, 2024]]>https://obituaries.post-gazette.com/obituary/michael-l-pometto-1090656000<![CDATA[

POMETTOMICHAEL L. Age 75, of Dormont, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of numbers, nostalgia, and a whole lot of love. Michael was the beloved son of the late Gelestine Pometto and his devoted Italian mother, Phyllis (Pullia) Pometto, who always said he was "her genius Mikey"—and let's face it, with any math-related conversation, he'd undoubtedly prove her right every time.A loving father, Michael proudly wore many hats: devoted dad to Celeste Pometto DiNicola (Phillip DiNicola), Anthony Pometto (Lena Broz), and Joseph D. Pometto (Kaitlin Gregory), and adoring Pap Pap to his five cherished grandchildren: Anthony, Isadora, Aeriella, Meadow, Michael, and Leo. These little lights of his life knew him as the ultimate candy magician, always pulling a pocket full of sweets (and a little cash for good measure) from thin air every time they visited.Michael was a passionate sports fan—whether he was cheering for his favorite baseball team or pondering the perfect football play, his enthusiasm was contagious. In his free time, you'd often find him at racetracks across the country, living out his dream of being a part-time jockey (though he mostly just preferred the coffee and the thrill of the bet). He was also known for his voracious appetite for trivia, never missing an episode of Jeopardy, where his family frequently wondered if Alex Trebek was actually intimidated by Michael's brilliance. As a brother to Joyce Pometto (Kent Allshouse) and the late Guy Pometto, he spread laughter and love with the same dedication he had for his hobbies. He was also a cherished uncle to Susie Allshouse and a beloved nephew of Joanne Cerminaro and Sarah Speaker. The family ties he cherished so much were only rivaled by his loyalty to friends and many loving cousins.Michael is also lovingly remembered by the mother of his children, Judy Tornoff Duffy, who might just be still competing with him to see who knows more about Jeopardy answers. In the style of Mikey himself, let's raise a cup of coffee in his honor—complete with a sprinkle of sugar and a side of good humor. His presence will be missed, but his spirit, laughter, and mathematical prowess will continue to be a part of every family gathering—for as long as there are questions to answer and bets to place.Rest in peace, Mikey! Say hi to the horses, and save us a seat at the next family game night!Arrangements by BEINHAUERS, 2630 West Liberty Ave., Dormont, 15216, where friends and family will be received on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bernard Church, St. Michael the Archangel Parish on Wednesday at 10 a.m., everyone please meet directly at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to ASPCA.org. Please add and view tributes at www.beinhauer.com.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (7)

BETSCHKENNETH P. Kenneth P. Betsch, age 89, of Cranberry Township, PA, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2024, in hospice care at UPMC Passavant Hospital. Born May 29, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Frank S. Betsch and Mary Larson Betsch Jouver, and stepson of the late Edward Jouver. Survived by his dearly beloved wife, Regina "Jeanie" Betsch; siblings Patricia Winter and Michael Jouver; 10 nephews and their families; and dear friends, Kenny will be profoundly missed. Kenny worked for Iron City Brewing Company for 43 years, first as a yardbird, then as a driver. He could tell stories for hours about the history of the brewery and the hijinx of coworkers. But his best story is the one of meeting a beautiful, young secretary from Millvale who he could not live without. Kenny and Jeanie married on August 20, 1955 and didn't spend a day apart in their 69 years of wedded bliss. Together, they enjoyed traveling; many summers of heading up camp for weekends with friends; and spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. Anyone who knew Kenny would attest to his quick wit, ability to tell a variety of hilarious jokes, and his vast musical knowledge. He enjoyed sharing his music collection and adapted with the times. From cassette recordings of vinyl albums to burning CDs of his favorite artists, Kenny loved to educate and entertain. He also loved to email favorite photos of cherished events and times together. Kenny always welcomed you with a warm smile, firm handshake, or a great big hug. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, genuine friend, and an all-around wonderful guy. Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 3-7 P.M. at SPERLING FUNERAL HOME, 700 Blazier Drive, Wexford, PA 15090. <![CDATA[MANNING, JUDGE JEFFREY A. Aug 12, 2024]]>https://obituaries.post-gazette.com/obituary/judge-jeffrey-a-manning-1090635919<![CDATA[

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (11)

MANNINGJUDGE JEFFREY A. In the loving arms of his devoted wife Olga, the husband, the father, the grandfather, the friend, the protector, the mentor, the teacher, the legend, and icon Judge Jeffrey A. Manning, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. Judge Manning's incomparable tenure on the bench of the Fifth Judicial District for over three decades as Judge, Administrative Judge and unanimously elected by his peers as President Judge and then granted the title of President Judge Emeritus were accomplishments that he was very proud of. He took great pride in being a public servant. He was an advocate for victims' and victims' families but he also cared about the circ*mstances that brought the public before him. Never a day went by when he was either addressed on the street or paid a visit in Chambers, where a prior defendant would stop him to express their appreciation for believing in them and giving them a chance to better their lives. Military personnel, Master's and PhD recipients, as well as nurses, engineers, artists and entrepreneurs are all success stories defendants wanted him to be aware of. Judge Manning would humbly walk away with tears welling up in his eyes as these stories reminded him of the power of the position and its impact, something he took very seriously. His compassion knew no bounds. He cared so much more about the judicial system than the titles bestowed upon him yet he took advantage of the titles to make the system better. Never a notch on his resume but an avenue by which he could implement better protocols. Judge Manning's command of a courtroom was beyond comparison. He demanded courtroom decorum and respect from all that appeared before him no matter who they were. He was always available to anyone to lend an ear, render advice, and make hard decisions. His Chambers door was always open, he welcomed all. He so enjoyed the camaraderie of the bench and the bar of attorneys. At conferences he loved playing guitar and singing as well as karaoke and telling stories of past cases, never missing a detail from the parties' involved to the evidentiary issues argued. His attention to rules, details and instant recollection thereof was unmatched and admired by all. What Judge Manning enjoyed the most was being a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend. His loyalty and love was felt deeply by them all. He was steadfastly devoted to his family and friends. No words can adequately describe the impact he had on those he loved. Accolades of his legal acumen and brilliant mind are well documented, what is not documented is the loving man that would anxiously await the arrival of his grandchildren so they could sit on the couch with him and his guitar and sing nursery rhymes together, "The Tale of Rindercella" was especially loved by his grandchildren. Their giggles and smiles made his life more fulfilling than any case he had ever presided over. He was so much more to so many than Judge Jeffrey A. Manning. His laugh was infectious and his love contagious. He had a remarkable sense of humor, often delighting in cheesy jokes and puns that left him in stitches, with the occasional snort, causing all around him to burst into laughter. Jeffrey profoundly loved and adored his wife Olga, anyone that was around them could see their mutual devotion. They loved and protected each other fiercely, supported each other unconditionally, respected each other completely and were each other's greatest advocate. He cherished his children, Richard and Astrid, and was a devoted father, they were the light of his life. He instilled in them the importance of dressing appropriately, practicing proper etiquette, choosing words carefully and being kind. He taught them to always do the right thing, try their best and never give up. Jeffrey's impact and presence in the lives of many, on and off the bench, will be sorely missed. He leaves an indelible void in the hearts of all those that knew him. Judge Manning was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Richard Manning. He is survived by his wife, Olga; son, Richard (Sarah); daughter, Astrid (Cydney); sister, Susan Biehl; sister-in-law, Pia DiSanto (John); and many nieces and nephews. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren, James, Madeline, Elisabeth and Isaac. Family and friends welcome, Sunday and Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp. 15220. Funeral Mass, Tuesday 10:00 am, in St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Bernard Church with Bishop David Bonnar presiding. Entombment to follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery. www.slaterfuneral.com

Joe was blessed with the gift of gab, and working in retail gave him the opportunity to talk with the many customers he met over the years. Joe was a proud member of Steeler Nation. His family and friends knew better than to call or text during a game. We needed to wait until half time, or between quarters, and be quick so he would be ready to continue watching the game. Joe also loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, he was proud to have been at the game when Roberto Clemente hit his career milestone 3000 hit in Three Rivers Stadium. He was our family historian, photographer and chef. Joe always said he was put on this earth to marry the love of his life, Darlene, and to be Jessica's Dad. To his family and many friends, please know how much he loved each of you. Nothing was more important or made him happier than being able to help you when you were in need. To the world, Joe was one person, to us, he changed our world forever. To our dearest Joe, 'til we meet again. Friends received 1-5 PM, Sunday, at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, at 12 noon.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (14)

VOYCE HERRERADAVIA JEANNEDavia Jeanne Voyce Herrera, age 78, of Castle Shannon, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 28, 2024, just eight days before her 79th birthday. Born on August 5, 1945, in Johnstown, PA, to the late David J. Voyce and Gloria J. McAllister, Davia was a woman of boundless love, creativity, and generosity. Davia was a graduate of Johnstown High School and enjoyed attending her class reunions over the years, maintaining a lifelong friendship with her dear friend, Mary Lou Thomas. She built a successful career as a Claims Adjuster Supervisor with 21st Century Insurance in Los Angeles, California, where she lived for more than 35 years, and raised her two beloved children, Brian and Jennifer. She retired in 2006 after 22 years of dedicated service, a source of great pride as she was among the last to be promoted without a four-year college degree. In 2006, Davia returned to Pittsburgh, PA, to be closer to her family, including her father David; her son Brian; and her siblings, Linda, Barbara, and Mark. Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering, and she cherished the time spent with them. Davia was known for her insatiable creativity and passion for design. Her style was timeless, with a particular fondness for Art Deco and mid-century design, and she had a unique ability to create spaces that transported you to another era. Her heart was open to all walks of life. She embraced diversity in thought, ideas, and cultural backgrounds, creating a vibrant and full life that reflected the beauty of this diversity. Davia's generosity knew no bounds, she gave of herself freely, whether through nurturing friendships that spanned decades, or hosting fantastic parties. Davia was beyond proud of her children, Jennifer and Brian, though she often deflected credit for the role she played in their lives, saying, "God gave you two to me." She saw in them the qualities she admired, but didn't always see in herself. Her love for them was unconditional, and as she grew older, she began to recognize the impact she had on their lives. Davia is predeceased by her dear parents, David J. Voyce and Gloria Jean McAllister; her niece Aimee Megargee; and brothers-in-law Bruce Hill and Norman Marshall. She is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Herrera and Brian Herrera; her siblings, Linda (Harry) Gross, Barbara Hill, and Mark (Carol) Voyce; her nieces and nephews, Tracie Shannon, David (Jillian) Marshall, Joanna (Joel) Yonts, Jeffery (Jennifer) Salisbury; and nephew-in-law Michael Megargee; along with their children, whom Davia cherished dearly. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Ross DiSalvo III; the father of her children, Alfred P. Herrera; and her dear friends, Greta and Bruce Sievert, Tena Byerly, Tony Traugott, Linda Lester, Anna Bufkin, Phyllis and Tony Riggio, and Diane Hill. Funeral arrangements are by BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of life will be held for Davia on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Cloverleaf Estates West Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh: Women's Center & Shelter Attn: Donations PO Box 9024 Pittsburgh, PA 15224 Donations can also be made through our website: www.wcspittsburgh.org Or directly via this link: https://www.classy.org/give/588397/#!/donation/checkout

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (19)

BALLKENNETH EARLKenneth Earl Ball passed peacefully into God's eternal care surrounded by his family, on 1 August 2024, just three days shy of his 93rd birthday. Born in Beadling, PA, 4 August 1931 to the late Anna Mechtel and Thomas Renshaw Ball, Ken was also the husband of the late Nancy S. Ball. Ken was a 1949 graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, and then a 1954 graduate of Slippery Rock State Teacher's College, majoring in physics and mathematics and earning a teaching degree. Upon graduation, Ken served two years in the United States Marine Corps. He and wife Nancy lived in McMurray for nearly 50 years, then moved to New Oxford in 2007 to be closer to family. During their time in McMurray, Ken was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he gave seminars and also served on the hunger task force. In his retirement years, Ken was a member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. Ken's work spanned decades of cutting-edge industrial development. After his USMC service, Ken was employed by Martin Aircraft to work on sea and nuclear-powered planes. Later, he worked for Mine Safety of America, and under them, developed the "Billion-Air", a device to detect toxic fumes down to one part per billion. At least one of these was used in a space capsule during the Apollo program. Ken later founded his own company, BEK Technical Publications, and worked as both president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Instrument Society of America, as well as managing the Society of Carbide and Tool Engineers. He installed environmental control rooms for over 100 institutions, including Duke and Howard Universities. He also installed gate controls for six locks on the upper Monongahela River, as well as acting as an advisor to NOAA's coastal technologies program. Ken also helped to found chemical separation technology in 1985. Most recently, Ken appeared as part of a panel reviewing the history of manufacturing carried by PBS's White House Chronicles in 2020. Ken may have been short in stature but he was huge in heart. A very generous man, he was always ready to lend a helping hand whether it was physical work, financial or business oriented. Being very fun-loving, Ken had a great sense of humor, loved to explore new places and technologies which gave him many a story to tell. Ken started a family tradition of writing poems for birthdays and special events that could not be outdone by anyone else. He was a beloved PapPap to his grandchildren, and they were his pride and joy. Time spent with PapPap was full of fun and adventure. Besides technology and industry, Ken's passion was sports, notably soccer. Having grown up in the slag heaps of Beadling, he helped take the Beadling soccer team to its 1954 national championship, and also played soccer for the Armed Forces team. Ken was also an avid Pirates, Steelers and Penguins fan. Simply put, he loved all things Pittsburgh. Ken is survived by daughter Susan (Ball) Kolmer, daughter Joan (Ball) Heft, granddaughter Alison (Heft) Preston, grandson Paul Heft, grandson Benjamin Kolmer, granddaughter Bethany (Kolmer) Norseen, grandson Garrett Kolmer, and six great-grandsons, plus a number of nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy, his brother, Thomas Melvin Ball, and his sister, Gladys Camaioni. A celebration of life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair on Saturday, 19 October 2024 at 2 PM. Memorial donations can be made either to the Benevolence Fund of Cross Keys Village or to Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, with Ken Ball written on the memo line.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (29)

SHELBAUGHPHILIP BLAIR Philip Blair Shelbaugh passed away peacefully at home, late Friday August 9, 2024, after battling chronic heart and lung conditions for many years. Born on January 14, 1943 to Philip and Marie (Lukitsch) Shelbaugh of Castle Shannon, PA he was the only boy between two sisters, Dorothy Shelbaugh and Sandra (Shelbaugh) Pinkerton, who both predeceased him. Phil loved to tell stories of friends and times growing up on May Street and weekend dances at The Grove before joining the US Navy from 1963–1967, and serving during the Vietnam War before meeting and marrying his wife of 50 years, Kathleen (Brenckle) Shelbaugh (deceased), and relocating to Naples, FL with their family many years later. He held many jobs over his 81 ½ years such as Stouffer's, US Steel Mill or HVAC Specialist for the City of Naples, but there was no job he was more proud of than Dad and later Grandpa. He always had time to lend a hand or help someone fix something. Phil could always be found in a US Navy hat, doing crossword puzzles, playing with trains or smoking a cigar on the back lanai. He will be missed dearly by many. He leaves behind two sons, Todd (Katherine) and Scott (Deborah) Shelbaugh; seven grandchildren, by blood, Alyssa, Brandon, Emma, Dalton, Megan, Ryan and Chloe Shelbaugh; and two more by heart, Brooke and Blake Lanious. Friends and Family will be received beginning at noon on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at his home, 928 Summerfield Drive in Naples. Phil will be taken home to PA and laid to rest at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10am.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (36)

GARRISONDAVEDave was born June 16, 1948, in Waynesburg, PA, to Ralph and Betty Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia Patterson Garrison; his sons Michael, wife Sarah and grandsons Ian and Aidan; Jeffrey, wife Aura and grandsons Xavier and Demitri; and Eric and partner Melaine and children Tyler, Andrew and Kristiana, Julian and Mallory. He is also survived by his sister Janet; and brother Brian; and preceded in death by his brother Randy. Dave graduated from West Virginia University, with degrees in Biology and Aquatic Ecology, and was employed as an environmental consultant, until health issues caused him to be permanently disabled. He turned his disabled status into a lifetime of service for others as an Elder and a Deacon at his church, leading a "Grief Share" Program, which helps others as they struggle with the loss of a loved one, and volunteering in the Pastoral Care Program at Canonsburg Hospital. Dave volunteered as an assistant coach with his boys' baseball teams and enjoyed helping plan the Pinto Classic Baseball Tournaments. He also enjoyed golf outings with his buddies, and playing guitar. He was also an avid hunter and sportsman. One of Dave's greatest joys was having the grandchildren visit and spend time going to parks, museums and, best of all, going to a different ice cream place every night for dessert. Plagued by health issues, Dave was a walking miracle for 46 years, having had a heart transplant in 2002. He was forever grateful to the mother who allowed her child's heart to be donated to him. A kidney transplant in 2018 was possible with son, Michael, being the donor. The family encourages friends and extended family to join them at Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA, on August 17, 2024, from 2-5 pm for light refreshments to view pictures encompassing his 76 years and to share stories, pictures, and fond memories of Dave as we celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Canonsburg UP Church for the Grief Share program or to the Pastoral Care program at Canonsburg Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to SOLLON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000. Online condolences can be given at www.sollon.com.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (38)

WALLACHDAVID LEEDavid Lee Wallach passed away on August 11, 2024, after days of loving family visits, following a quick decline from a debilitating stroke. David was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dorothy; and his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Carole Gerstacker Wallach. He is survived by his sister Paula Eppinger; and sister-in-law Marcia Anselmo; children, Beth Wallach, Dan (Joyce) Wallach, Deborah (Joseph) Busche; grandchildren, Kaitlin Grabowski, Jonathan Wallach, Christine (Alex) Armstrong, Jackson and Damien Busche; stepson Dennis Hullihan; great-grandchildren, Ty and Michael Grabowski, Brayden Armstrong; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and their children; "extra family" Holly (Rich) Schmidt and Ann (Chris) Hall; and wonderful caregivers Corrine, Diane, Emily, Bobbie, and Nora, among others. David was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 21, 1940, and graduated from Shaker High School in 1958. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated from Case Institute of Technology. A few days after graduating with a B.S. in physics in 1962, he married his "angel" Carole Gerstacker. They moved to the Pittsburgh area, where David worked at Westinghouse Bettis from 1962-1967, while attending night school at Carnegie Tech and earning a master's degree in Physics. While working at Westinghouse, he was a nuclear physicist involved in the first large-scale civilian nuclear power plant, and represented Westinghouse when their first nuclear submarine's reactor powered up. In 1967, David got a "lifetime dose" of radiation in a small mishap at the Shippingport plant. This resulted in a new career in teaching physics, to which he was extremely well suited. He taught at Penn State McKeesport until 1998, achieving his Ph.D. in Planetary Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979 while working full-time and raising three children. At Penn State, he mentored students, and developed a physics curriculum for engineering technology programs. He also co-authored the third edition of Frederick Bueche's college textbook, "Technical Physics". David had a very active retirement, including two teaching stints at Pitt, and Washington, and Jefferson, tutoring physics to high schoolers, and managing Carole's psychology practice. David was a devoted husband, son, father, and cat person. He was very active in raising his three children. He served on the Peters Township School Board from 1979-1989, including two years as president. David's passion in life was helping people, always putting others needs before his own. Throughout his marriage, he took care of Carole, through sickness and health, until her death in 2022, and traveled with her to all seven continents. Judaism was a core part of his identity. He was actively involved at Rodef Shalom Congregation and served as president of its Junior Congregation. Aside from family, his proudest achievement was writing and publishing his book, "God and Science, Resolving the Paradox." David was a long term participant in longitudinal studies on Alzheimer's Disease at UPMC, and has donated his body to medical research. All are welcome to attend David's memorial service on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Rodef Shalom Congregation, in Pittsburgh, which will be live-streamed (call Rodef for the link). Please also join us for a fitting celebration of David's life with a Pittsburgh cookie table (bring some if you want) from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM the same day at Rolling Hills Park's Shelter A, in McMurray. Contributions in David's memory may be sent to the Washington PA area Humane Society, the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

<![CDATA[Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Obituaries]]> (46)

RUGGERIOANN GERALDINE DEET LIGNOSKIAnn Geraldine Deet Lignoski Ruggerio, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Ann entered this world at the beginning of the Depression and was the 11th of 12 children to the late Frank and Josephine (Prindle) Deet. At the tender age of six, her mother passed away. Her eldest sister, Gwendoline Hill Enright assumed responsibility caring for Ann through out her future years. In 1949 she wed Henry J. Lignoski. Her life was happy and so complete as she brought eight children into this world: Kenneth (Gloria), Janice (George) Gleeson, Elaine (the late James) Glassner, Paul (Jennifer), Laura (Tim) Mullen, John (Jill), and the late Robert. She adored all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved baking, especially making and decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She was active at St. Kienan's Church as a Christian Mother and Eucharistic Minister. Anns one desire was to be a nurse so after John entered elementary school, she pursued her dreams and earned her license to practice as an LPN. She loved working at St. Francis Hospital, the place where her sister Gwendoline worked as an RN for years and where all her children were born. Sadly, Henry passed away after a long battle with Lymphoma in 1999 ending a 49-year marriage. Ann did not give up in life. She pursued her and dad's dream of moving into a ranch in Shaler where she lived for the next 24 years and attended St. Bonaventure Church. She met and married Joe Ruggerio in 2007. In the next seven years she found joy, laughter, and love. She loved Joe's three children and grandchildren. She held a special place in her heart for Joe's grandson. David made an effort to visit mom weekly for dinner up until the time Covid interrupted the world. Ann was the last surviving sibling of the Deet family. She lived a long life, 94 years, living independently, calling her own shots, until she suffered a debilitating stroke in late March. We are so grateful for the loving care she received at Mercy Hospital and the Ross Kane Nursing Home. God Speed Mom, may you rest in peace. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw. Burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

THOMPSON, IIHARRY A. Harry Addison Thompson, II, of Pittsburgh and Rector, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 4, 2024. Harry was born in Pittsburgh on June 28, 1935, the son of the late Robert William Thompson and the late Vivian Coulson Thompson. A native and life-long Pittsburgher, Harry was devoted to his family and his community which is reflected throughout his very active life and long participation in many Pittsburgh institutions. He gave freely of his time in support of many organizations, distinguished himself through his career as an attorney, and relished the company of family and friends as often as possible. He was an avid supporter of the arts. In September 1964, he married his beloved wife, Jane Arensberg. Janie and Harry had three children: Michael Arensberg Thompson (Elizabeth Perry), Andrew Throckmorton Thompson (Kristiana Farnham) and Diana Savage Thompson; and four grandchildren: Phoebe, Sawyer, Claire and Nolan Thompson.
